Jukebox Durie is our weekly review of the best (and the worst) football songs.

A shorter than normal entry for Jukebox Durie this week but, as every man knows, you don’t need length when you’ve got quality, and this week, Jukebox Durie has unearthed a couple of classics from QPR.

While many people think the only thing that attracted players to Loftus Road last season was the huge wage and bonus promised if they successfully stayed up (they didn’t) it did have another attraction – Bruce Thomas, bass player of The Attractions, as in Elvis Costello And The Attractions.

In 1977 he wrote ‘Queens Park Rangers’ to celebrate QPR finishing second in the First Division and their first European adventure when they qualified for the UEFA Cup.

And for the players that did join QPR, even if they were just there for the money, the fans will still loved them, well some of them. I don’t think they’ve forgiven Christopher Samba. They loved ex- Man Utd midfielder Ji Sung Park and they released this lovely slice of Teenage Fanclub-ish pop.

About the Author
After too many years as season ticket holder at Parkhead, Andy Todd renounced the SPL three years ago to support Queens Park. One team is a rank bunch of amateurs who play in a state of the art stadium and the other is…(I think we can all see where this is going).

Andy has been performing comedy for 18 months but is currently ‘between gigs’ while he writes a book on Scottish property law to be published in Summer 2012. Its potential audience will be less than 300 but his mum will be very proud.
