**** me with a broomstick!

It’s been nearly four weeks since Euro 2012 started and it was only this week, after it ended, that I discovered there was an official song of the tournament! It’s ‘Endless Summer’ by Oceana, in case you
don’t know.

How could this happen? How could I miss what must be the number 1 song in all of Europe? Unless… its not the number 1 song in Europe… unless… it’s absolute dross…

And, it’s not even good dross, the kind you secretly like but wouldn’t admit to, like Dizzee Rascal and James Corden’s “Shout” (not that I’m admitting I like it, but…)

This is Europap of the worst kind, a bland dance anthem that’s designed to soundtrack a teenage lager shandy bender in (Your Not Getting A) Shagaluff.

But can it really be that bad with lyrics like this:

Endless summer, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh
Endless summer, oh, oh, oh, oh,

Oh, yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh it can!

Jukebox Durie will take a break in July as it heads away on its summer holiday to get restocked for the start of the new season. It will return at the start of August leaner, meaner and with a full
pre-season of tracking down obscure Scottish tuneage.

About the Author
After too many years as season ticket holder at Parkhead, Andy Todd renounced the SPL three years ago to support Queens Park. One team is a rank bunch of amateurs who play in a state of the art stadium and the other is…(I think we can all see where this is going).

Andy has been performing comedy for 18 months but is currently ‘between gigs’ while he writes a book on Scottish property law to be published in Summer 2012. Its potential audience will be less than 300 but his mum will be very proud.
