Jukebox Durie is our weekly review of the best (and the worst) Scottish football songs.

As Rangers stumble from crisis to farce it’s easy to forget how great and dominant a side they once were. Gazza. Laudrup. Van Bronckhorst. Albertz. We’d read stories in the Record and the Sun that Sir David Murray had a plane on standby to pinch Ronaldo from Barcelona and, not only did we not laugh, we fully expected the chubby goal-scoring tranny-loving Brazilian at Prestwick Airport within the week.

And that’s not all. Rangers would play Tina Turner’s The Best without irony. And again no one laughed. It just seemed fitting. It was their song and none could argue their right to it – Rangers were better than all the rest (no matter how much we hated them for it).

So, this week’s choice is an easy one. In honour of all that’s been, and all that may be again, Jukebox Durie presents Tina Turner’s The Best, in what I can honestly promise is the best version of the song you will ever see. This is Spandy Andy (no relation), and he loves to dance…”.
