Jukebox Durie is our weekly review of the best (and the worst) Scottish football songs.

When Rangers beat Hibs 7-0 in December 1995, Gordon “Jukebox” Durie scored four times. You might expect that a man who scores four would make the back page of every paper, but not this time. Gordon played with Gazza, and everyone remembers what Gazza did in this game…

Midway through the match, Gazza spotted that referee Douglas Smith had dropped his yellow card. Being a good sort, Gazza picked it up and tried to give it back, but not before, with a flourish, he pretended to book the referee.

Douglas Smith was not amused, though all the fans were laughing, and Smith grabbed the card back and booked Gazza for dissent.

Only one of these people had a sense of humour. To balance that though, only one of them turned up with chicken for Raoul Moat.
When questioned by Hibs player Joe Tortolano about why he had booked Gazza, Douglas is reported to have told Joe: “He might be able to take the piss out of you, but he’s not taking the piss out of me!”

It is with considerable delight that this week’s column is dedicated to the man who gives it its name: Gordon “Jukebox” Durie. Two weeks ago Gordon was appointed manager of East Fife and we wish him all the best in the new role!

East Fife fans sing “The Cowden Family”:

About the Author
After too many years as season ticket holder at Parkhead, Andy Todd renounced the SPL three years ago to support Queens Park. One team is a rank bunch of amateurs who play in a state of the art stadium and the other is…(I think we can all see where this is going).

Andy has been performing comedy for 18 months but is currently ‘between gigs’ while he writes a book on Scottish property law to be published in Summer 2012. Its potential audience will be less than 300 but his mum will be very proud.
