By now you’ve probably seen Louis van Gaal’s half-drunk speech at Manchester United’s Player of the Year awards. In it he works United fans who have been enjoying “a few sherbets” into a soapy lather and then shushes them as he goes on a seven minute diatribe about how a club who had 13 points from the first 10 games of the season almost finished second.
They didn’t, but don’t let that dampen your spirits. All this and more is in your future:
Ryan Giggs said to me- and he is right, he is always right- but in this case he is particularly right. I have said you are the best fans of the world, yes. And I shall say why. I have seen a lady, who plays the saxophone fantastically. Give her a big applause!
I have seen many women here today. Many mothers as well. A big kiss from the coach of the champions!
Alright Louis, cool your jets.
